Children's Literature
There is such an incredible reservoir of resources and information at this site that we didn't know where to begin. However, we shall begin, as they say, at the beginning.

Founded in 1992 by Marilyn Courtot the staff has now grown to more than 125 reviewers who read and critically review more than 3,000 books annually. Their mission is to help teachers, librarians, childcare providers and parents make appropriate literary choices for children.

In the What's New section on the upper left of the first page you will see an extensive review of this year's award winning books from Newbery, Caldecott, Silbert, Prince, and Coretta Scott King, as well as links which lead to an even more extensive award resource list. The Themed Review portion offers an incredible array of book choices listed alphabetically by, what else, themes! There is also a Featured Authors and Illustrators section, listings for conference, events and organizations.

Now if all of the above doesn't set your literary juices flowing there is a separate section listing specific books along with complementary lesson plans, parent and child resources and additional links to help you find that rare, out of print book. Oh, and did we mention The Children's Literature Comprehensive Database (CLCD) which is available to subscribers via the Internet contains more than 600,000 catalog records in MARC format that have children's headings assigned? In addition, the database contains more than 50,000 critical reviews of thousands of children's books, ranging from the earliest baby board books to novels and nonfiction for young adults. This website is an award winner all by itself!
